Abstract: We present a class of collaboration networks, named cross-talk network of China (CTNC), in which two players are considered connected if they have performed one or more comic dialogues together. We study a variety of statistical properties of our networks, including degree distribution, clustering, path length and degree–degree correlation in the one-mode projected network. Besides, we construct a weighted network for CTNC in which the number of comic dialogues performed by two players is mapped to weights. In such representation, we investigate a variety of statistical quantities for CTNC, such as collaboration strength, social inertial defined as a ratio between the strength and the degree, etc. Finally, we compare our empirical results of CTNC with the predictions of a recently proposed theoretical model for the growth of collaboration networks.
