Fractals of forbidden words and approximating their box dimensions

Cheng-Xing Huang and Shou-Li Peng

Physica A: Statistical Mechanics and its Applications, 2008, vol. 387, issue 2, 703-716

Abstract: This paper provides the construction of the fractals defined by more than two forbidden words. Some properties of the table structure in the Hao’s frame representation are emphasized because they are the key to drawing the fractals. The recurrence formula are not only used in the enumeration, but also applied to derive the characteristic equations. Furthermore, a more efficient method of approximating their box dimensions is presented.
