Abstract:
By means of the complexity measure of Lempel and Ziv, we calculate the complexities of a total of 4737 human putative promoter regions. Interestingly, the complexity measure distribution can be separated into two asymmetric branches obeying Gaussian forms, respectively. This asymmetry may provide us with some information on the evolution of the promoters.
