Neutron scattering analysis of water’s glass transition and micropore collapse in amorphous solid water: Revisited

Chu R. Kwang-Hua

Physica A: Statistical Mechanics and its Applications, 2019, vol. 519, issue C, 18-21

Abstract: Hill et al.’s (2016) paper claimed that the water’s glass transition occurs around 121 K which is different from our calculations based on the same measurements. Considering the generalized Guinier–Porod model and small-angle neutron scattering (SANS) measurements obtained by Hill et al., we found some mismatches in figure 2 therein, say, the evaluation of the glass transition temperature as well as calculations of specific surface area. It seems to us that background noises correction was not performed by Hill et al. in their experimental study. We have doubt about Hill et al.’s results with the glass transition temperature.
