Abstract: In the competitive global economy, innovation is widely regarded as one of the most critical factors affecting the development and growth of enterprises. It is important to consider the generation, evolution and dissemination of innovation ability. In this paper, it is assumed that innovation can spread among R&D (research and development) population in the way a special “infectious disease” does. On the basis of this assumption, a quantitative model is established to describe the mechanism of innovation ability among R&D population and corresponding influencing factors have been displayed to have a further understanding of innovation ability disseminating. Meanwhile, we analyze the local and global stability of innovation-free equilibrium and innovation-existence equilibrium and calculate the basic reproduction number of our model. Then we discuss the effect of parameter changes on the dissemination of innovation ability and analyzed the parameter sensitivity of the model with numerical simulations. Finally, some suggestions are given on how to better understand the dissemination of innovation ability in an effort to improve the innovation ability of enterprises.
