Abstract:
Endogenous and exogenous recoveries are two important recovery factors for infected nodes, which so far have eluded theoretical analysis on the phase transition of spreading dynamics. In this paper, we propose a generalized contact process, which considers the endogenous and exogenous recovery factors simultaneously. To investigate the spreading dynamics quantificationally, we develop a heterogeneous mean-field method, which agrees well with numerical simulations. Under different initial conditions, since the information outbreak size is different with the same transmission rate there are hysteresis loops on both Erdös–Rényi (ER) and scale-free (SF) networks. We find that the area of hysteresis loops is maximum when the large degree nodes are selected to contact preferentially by the infected nodes. Moreover, the area of hysteresis loops gradually disappears with the increase of the endogenous recovery rate of the infected nodes. In each observation process, the number of hysteresis loops varies with the main sources of resources in exogenous recovery of the infected nodes and distinct contact processes.
