Physica A: Statistical Mechanics and its Applications, 2020, vol. 555, issue C

Abstract: We give a method for finding the exact analytical solution in time domain for the problem of a particle undergoing diffusive motion on a flat potential in the presence of a new localized sink. The diffusive motion is described by using the Smoluchowski equation. This analytical method with this new localized sink is very general and can be used to deal with other potentials. This model is well suited for understanding the problem of electronic relaxation of a molecule immersed in polar solvent using reaction–diffusion approach.
