Abstract: In this paper, we first construct a generalized N-person snowdrift game with time costs and assume that defectors have two types of psychological preferences for time costs compared to cooperators. Secondly, using the stochastic replicator equation, we investigate the equilibria for the generalized N-person snowdrift games and obtain a sufficient and necessary condition corresponding to a unique stochastically stable equilibrium. Besides, we perform several numerical simulations and find that theoretical and numerical results are consistent, and the effects of these two psychological preferences on the equilibria are significantly different in systems with a smaller group size and threshold. Finally, through comparative analysis, we confirm that the cooperation can be promoted with the increases of the threshold, the benefits and time costs; conversely, the cooperation can be curbed with increasing the group size and the costs. Interestingly, the influence of the adjustment factor on the final frequency of cooperators is not as drastic as that of the group size and the threshold.
