C.H. Smit and G. Vertogen

Physica A: Statistical Mechanics and its Applications, 1977, vol. 87, issue 3, 623-628

Abstract: The transfer matrix formalism is employed in order to construct the exact renormalization transformation for the one-dimensional Ising model with finite range interaction. The method is applied to the nearest-neighbour model and to the next nearest-neighbour model.
