A simple way of understanding some exact results on critical phenomena in non-homogeneous and finite Ising systems III

Abstract: A generalization of Ferrell's continuum approximation for the transfer matrix is utilized to obtain a physically transparent calculation of the specific heat of a two-dimensional Ising model with a “layer”-type inhomogeneity in its exchange coupling, including small (quenched!) statistical fluctuations of the coupling strength around a periodic, long-wavelength “layering”.
