On Poincaré cycles of the linear chain of oscillators

J.O. Vigfusson

Physica A: Statistical Mechanics and its Applications, 1979, vol. 98, issue 1, 215-230

Abstract: The Poincaré cycles of some sharply localized initial excitations of the homogeneous linear chain of oscillators are studied, as well as the recurrence properties of the time-dependent autocorrelation functions of the phase space variables. In both cases a lower limit to the recurrence time is found, which increases slightly faster than with the square of the number of particles.
