Sum rules and collective modes in a turbulent plasma

H.B. Singh and N.K. Ailawadi

Physica A: Statistical Mechanics and its Applications, 1979, vol. 98, issue 1, 337-344

Abstract: An exact expression is obtained for the fifth frequency moment sum-rule of the density response function of a classical turbulent plasma in a stationary state. It is used to show that the recent result of Ichimaru and Tange for the dispersion relations of the collective modes of the system is not exact. In particular, their result can be reproduced using a single resonance ansatz for the spectral function of the density response function.
