Abstract:
The problem of deriving the Fokker-Planck equation describing the time-evolution of a single-particle system under the influence of a “large system” is investigated. The projection operator formalism is used for this purpose. The general equation for the time-evolution and the equations for a specific model system are obtained. The Markovian limit of this stochastic process is also investigated.
