A new combinatorial approach for coordinating aerial conflicts given uncertainties regarding aircraft speeds

R. Haddad, J. Carlier and A. Moukrim

International Journal of Production Economics, 2008, vol. 112, issue 1, 226-235

Abstract: This paper presents principles and algorithms for building a real-time scheduler. The objective is to coordinate en-route air traffic movements using combinatorial approaches. Coordination helps ensure that two aircraft do not operate independently in a way, which could extend or intensify a conflict. The primary objective of the scheduler is to coordinate air traffic conflicts by taking account of uncertainties regarding aircraft speeds.
