International Journal of Production Economics, 2025, vol. 288, issue C

Abstract: Although digital technology plays a critical role in enhancing a firm's green innovation resilience, the underlying mechanisms and boundary conditions of this relationship remain unclear. Grounded in dynamic capability theory and the resource-based view, this study analyzes survey data from 245 Chinese manufacturing firms to investigate the moderated mediation effect of environmental regulation on the relationship between digital technology and green innovation resilience, with absorptive capacity as the mediator. The results demonstrate that digital technology has a positive and significant impact on green innovation resilience, absorptive capacity partially mediates this relationship, and environmental regulation enhances the mediating effect of absorptive capacity, thereby further improving resilience. This study provides valuable theoretical and practical insights into green innovation resilience by clarifying the interactive effects of digital technology, absorptive capacity, and environmental regulation.
