Current solar energy utilization in Ghana

Joseph Essandoh-Yeddu

Renewable Energy, 1997, vol. 10, issue 2, 433-436

Abstract: The increasing interest in solar energy technology all over the world spilt over into Ghana when crude oil importation constituted the biggest consumer of the country's foreign exchange at a time when income from the nation's main export commodities, cocoa and gold, fell below expected levels. Over 700 solar energy systems for electricity and thermal applications have been installed in Ghana. The paper concentrates on direct solar energy applications.
