A simulation model for evaluating Tianhuangping pumped storage hydro-plant

Renewable Energy, 1997, vol. 11, issue 2, 263-266

Abstract: A simulation model is presented to evaluate the operational benefits of Tianhuangping Pumped Storage Hydro-Plant (TPSHP) in the Shanghai electrical network. The benefits from the hydro-plant include the electricity from the pumped water, the efficiency improvement of the overall units and the increase of peak load capacity. More specifically, Tianhuangping provides an average coal consumption of 5.1 g/kW · h decrease and an additional 600 MW peak capacity for the Shanghai electrical network.
