Renewable Energy, 2020, vol. 147, issue P1, 2272-2278

Abstract: Thermoelectric (TE) modules have significant thermal stress and deformation affected by the temperature difference, which affect their working stability and life span. This work mainly studies the influence of configuration of TE modules on the stability. The TE module is extended along the horizontal direction (X and Y directions), and the stress - strain analysis of module is performed by ANSYS Workbench. The results show that the internal stress of TE module increases gradually along the Y direction. The mean stress is the minimum when the number of TE legs in Y direction is 12. The mean internal stress of the module can be minimized when the number of legs arranged along the X direction is 14. In the design of TE module, the X and Y directions of the module can be set as 12 and 14 groups respectively, which can minimize the average stress of the module and effectively improve the working stability and service life of the module.
