Renewable Energy, 1991, vol. 1, issue 1, 1-8

Abstract: This paper consists of 5 years' hourly wind data for 17 locations in Morocco. Three towns were chosen as the best locations for wind energy utilization, namely: Laayoune, Tanger and Dakhla. The diurnal pattern, probability functions Weibull, Weibull-hybrid and Rayleigh distribution were compared and the data fit was established. Additional information such as a histogram of cumulative distribution was presented for consecutive years for the month of January. The paper includes mean average and maximum average wind speed for the above three chosen towns. Finally, the capacity factoe was established for different locations in Morocco, and a comparison made between wind energy and solar radiation intensity in these locations.
