Abstract:
A theoretical computer model of a Trombe wall-room system is developed from first principles and empirical equations, such that the designer is free to change any of the variables, thus the wall-room properties can be changed to improve the performance. The effect of varying those properties is investigated. The model avoids the drawbacks of other empirical models in that it takes detailed system properties and hourly weather data, and gives the temperature profile of the heated enclosure over the day with the thermocirculation and the heat conducted across the wall being the only sources of heat.
