Abstract:
Frequency distributions of insolation values are of great use to workers in the field of agrometeorological and hydrological research and in the possible use of solar energy for domestic and industrial purposes. Following a method outlined by Liu and Jordan [Solar Energy4, 1 (1960)] a set of generalized monthly KT-curves is presented, from which the statistical distribution of daily global radiation for each month at any Iraqi locality can be estimated when the long-term monthly average of global radation is known. The study confirms the validity of Liu and Jordan's approach to use KT as a parameter for a given region. However, the results obtained for the U.S.A. are not applicable to Iraqi conditions and vice versa. This behaviour is attributed to the distribution of KT values over the month.
