Abstract: The utilisation of greenhouses in Portugal, have to deal with some specific climate problems like frost, during winter and overheating in summer days. These problems show the necessity of having a tool capable of predicting the thermal behaviour of a greenhouse under specific exterior conditions. The present paper presents a simple mathematical model of the thermal behaviour of an agriculture greenhouse. The model is based on the solution of the one-dimensional heat balance equations in the greenhouse, and the results obtained are compared with experimental values measured in the 150 m2 plastic covered greenhouse installed at the campus of INETI in Lisbon.
