Abstract:
The Lyapunov concept is an adaptive algorithm that provides accurate and reliable solutions in the control of power circuits, while the soft switching technique is an advanced method aimed at increasing efficiency by eliminating partial losses of the semiconductor switch. In this study, a two-stage control method is proposed that enables the synchronous performance of a Lyapunov-based (LPC) control algorithm and soft-switching phase-shifted load voltage control for fuel cell-powered wireless power transfer. The first stage of the proposed study (dc-link control) is compared with Model Predictive (MPC) and Proportional-Integral (PI) based control methods and its advantages in terms of overshoot and settling time are presented. In addition, the second stage of the study (load voltage and power control) is applied to the series-to- series (S-S) wireless power transfer (WPT) system and it provides advantages over the hard switching technique in terms of switching losses. In order to verify the performance of the proposed system, 6 variable conditions including variable load and temperature are modeled in the computer implementation of a 2.3 kW prototype. As a result of the study, the system efficiency reached >85 %. In addition, voltage and power control is successfully provided under variable operating conditions.
