A technical and economical analysis of a solar water still in Mexico

E. Barrera

Renewable Energy, 1992, vol. 2, issue 4, 489-495

Abstract: A solar still of the type called staircase (SSS) was developed, built and evaluated, giving a result 10% more efficient than a typical basin solar still. In this work the following aspects are analysed: the design characteristics that led to an increase in efficiency; the mathematical model that simulates the still behaviour and a technical and economical diagnosis of its possible use in different locations in the Mexican Republic.
