An inexpensive instrument to measure the absorptance of the solar radiation

A. Fasulo and L.A. Odicino

Renewable Energy, 1992, vol. 2, issue 6, 625-629

Abstract: From the study of a device to measure the global absorptance of solar radiation and its deficiencies, a new evacuated instrument results. This improves the previous instrument, reducing from 80 to a very few minutes the time of operation necessary before gathering the data. The instrument, devised and tested, is available at a low cost and easy to build and operate. It is demonstrated that it gives a good repeatability for both grey surfaces and common selective ones. The results of these measurements are independent of weather conditions or air mass of the day in which the experiment is carried out. Graphs, tables and applications are presented here.
