Renewable Energy, 2009, vol. 34, issue 6, 1628-1634

Abstract: The capacity of the Mexican electricity sector faces the challenge of satisfying the demand of the 80GW forecast by 2016. This value supposes a steady yearly average increase of some 4.9%. The electricity sector increases for the next eight years will be mainly made up of combined cycle power plants which could be a threat to the energy supply of the country due to the fact that the country is not self-sufficient in natural gas.
