Abstract:
For over 150 years the tides in the Amazon estuary were used to power sugar cane mills. Considering this successful use of tidal energy in the past, we are proposing a system to use it in the present, to generate electricity on a small scale for thousands of rural residents of the estuary, who have no prospect of being tied to the regional power grid.
