Profitability analysis of cropping systems for biogas production on marginal sites in southwestern Germany

Karin Wünsch, Sabine Gruber and Wilhelm Claupein

Renewable Energy, 2012, vol. 45, issue C, 213-220

Abstract: Power based on biomass, in particular biogas, is increasing, with a concomitant increase in the need for energy crop production. The objective of this study was to determine the profitability of biogas substrate production on a marginal site in southwestern Germany. The effects of crop rotation and nitrogen fertilization level were evaluated in a three-year filed experiment.
