Renewable Energy, 1994, vol. 4, issue 2, 155-167

Abstract: This paper deals with autonomous wind energy applications. There are substantial power production fluctuations due to variation in wind speed and these can be smoothed out by using batteries as a storage device. This paper describes a computer model which investigates the feasibility of using a wind/diesel system to provide electricity for an isolated village near Tangiers using Tangiers' wind regime. The paper quantifies the optimum wind turbine size and the benefits of a storage system on fuel saving.
