Dynamic behaviour of a cylindrical matrix solar air heater

Abstract:
A model which describes the steady and dynamic behaviour of a cylindrical matrix solar air heater is presented. The dynamic behaviour of the heater results from sudden changes in the intensity of the incident solar radiation and in the inlet fluid temperature. Radial conduction in both fluid and solid-matrix domains is neglected. Temperature distributions in both fluid and solid-matrix domains are given exactly. In terms of these distributions the performance of the solar heater is evaluated.
