On the excitation methods of an automotive alternator derivative type small-scale wind driven generator

Izumi Ushiyama, Nobutaka Ishiguro and Ryo Tanaami

Renewable Energy, 1994, vol. 5, issue 1, 650-652

Abstract: In the present work, authors proposed a small scale wind driven generator based on a design concept of an appropriate technology. In planning to manufacture a wind driven generator by oneself as the most essential component, an automotive alternator was adopted because of an obtainability in any place even in the developing countries. However, in adopting an alternator to the wind driven generator, an excitation to the alternator has to be done corresponding to the rotational speed of the wind turbine rotor.
