Abstract:
A renewable energy project is underway in Argentina in collaboration with 5 local research institutions, designed to improve the standard of living of poor population in rural areas. The focus is on training trainers. Applications include remote community solar stills, improved woodstoves for community kitchens, photovoltaic lighting for rural schools, guides and questionnaires to evaluate the potential of micro-hydro systems and other renewable energy technologies, solar cookers and dryers, solar water disinfection, solar heat pipe technology, solar refrigeration, and solar greenhouse/dryers. Demonstration models have been fabricated and placed in primary schools. A Training Program has been initiated to train primary school teachers from a series of rural schools in the Andean region. Training is continuing in the above subjects.
