Renewable energies and their role in the development of rural areas of Tunisia

Abstract: An evaluation of the contribution which renewable energies can make to the rural development efforts of Tunisia has been carried out. The difficulties incurred in the utilization of renewable energies in rural areas are considered. Further developments necessary to promote implementation are specified. Other factors, such as the need for the setting up of pilot plants and the promotion of an indigenous operated by native personnel are stressed. The necessity of National backing and the International co-operation required a strategy for the implementation of renewable energies in rural development programmes of Tunisia is highlighted.
