Daylighting design: Enhancing energy efficiency and visual quality

Abstract: The relationship between light and design is inseparable. Light reveals form, space, texture and colour - all of which are fundamental architectural considerations. Furthermore, light is essential to carry out most activities in buildings. Whether for aesthetic effect - to create mood or stimulation - or to fulfil functional requirements - for visibility and safety - light can be provided artificially or as daylight.
