EVA encapsulants for pv modules: Reliability issues and current R&D status at NREL

F.j Pern, S.h Glick and A.w Czanderna

Renewable Energy, 1996, vol. 8, issue 1, 367-370

Abstract: We briefly summarize ethylene-vinyl acetate (EVA) reliability issues and report our R&D results. These results include EVA degradation effects, discoloration factors, approaches to mitigate the EVA discoloration, improved photostability of modified EVA formulations, and plans to identify the best encapsulation schemes and to develop appropriate methodologies for predicting service life of PV modules.
