Abstract:
In 1993, a new 4-year solar cell R&D program toward the key objectives of achieving stabilized module efficiency of 8. 5% for amorphous Si solar cells and small area efficiency of 15% for Cu(InGa)Se2 based solar cells (CIGS) has been initiated in Japan. The outline of the 4-year program(1993–1996) will be discussed. Furthermore, recent activities in the area of a-Si solar cells CIGS solar cells, and polycrystalline Si thin film solar cells will be briefly reviewed.
