Abstract:
Energy saving devices are installed in rural areas of many developing countries with Government subsidy. A linear programming approach for the installation of these devices is described, either to maximize the energy saved for a given subsidy amount or to find the minimum subsidy amount to achieve a given target of energy savings. Level of subsidy to be provided for a device, to induce a given number of potential customers to install it, is also considered.
