Economics and politics of recent development in China

Abstract: The Chinese recent economic development is one of the most important achievementof this century. During the 80s the American strategy to defeat the former Soviet Unionand its commercial and exchange policies aimed to diminish the Japanese trade superavitwere important factors to the Chinese development strategy. This consisted of a wide andcomplex set of industrialization policies aimed to affirm the Chinese sovereign over its territoryand population. JEL Classification: O10; P21; N15.
