Abstract: Michal Kalecki provided important developments in contemporary economictheory by showing how to determine effective demand from Marx’s texts. He developedan endogenous model of economic fluctuations and of income distribution in the short run.This paper is an assessment of Kalecki’s contributions and the inspirations for the developmentof his work.
