Estimating the Economic Impact of Tourism in the North of Jordan through the I-O Approach

Abstract: The potential economic benefits derived from tourism are tremendous and provide an attractive form of economic development. The tourism sector ranked as one of the most important foreign exchange sources for the Jordan economy with about seven US billion Dollars in 2017. This study aims to estimate the economic impact of tourism in the north of Jordan; a survey has been conducted in Jordan in 2017 to estimate revenue generation from fees, lodging, food and other activities The Input -Output approach has been used; results revealed that estimated total output of tourism activities in the study area is about seventy million UD Dollars.
