The State and Prospects for the Development of a Systemic Approach to Manage Environmental Resources in the Context of Ecological Safety

Abstract: Purpose: The aim of the paper was to diagnose the state and prospects for the development of a systemic approach to manage environmental resources in the context of the ecological safety sector by studying the ability of environmental management systems to help the organizations to be prepared to fulfill requirements included in international agreements. Findings: As a result of the research, it was proven that environmental management systems are helpful tools to help organizations to rebuilt their attitude to natural environment. High growing popularity of ISO 14001 process, 17,350 certificates grow per year, and other alternative processes are available to ensure that the organizations have included important environmental issues in their management systems. Practical Implications: As it is shown in the article the environmental management systems based on ISO 14001 and other alternatives are good fundamentals to include the environmental issues into the organizations’ strategies and be prepared for the forthcoming environmental challenge requirements and regulations that ensure to achieve environmental safety. Originality/Value: Environmental management is still a current and important trend in research, as pro-environmental activities contribute to increase the efficiency and improve the safety of the organization. The article shows the value of environmental issues in the forthcoming reality and possibility of using environmental management systems to adjust their strategies accordingly.
