Proactive Attitude as an Element of the Strategy of Sustainable Development of Modern Companies in the Aspect of Occupational Safety

Abstract:
Purpose: The purpose of this article is to study the importance of the factors of the concept of sustainable development on proactive behavior in relation to the comprehensive management of OSH using the example of a selected company. Design/Methodology/Approach: The article presents selected results and conclusions of the conducted research on the identification of factors stimulating the proactive attitude of the employee in the management of sustainable development of occupational safety. The research was conducted at a selected chemical manufacturing company. A traditional questionnaire survey (PAPI/CAVI) was used to conduct the study. Findings: Based on the results obtained from the study, the following conclusions can be made: the proactive attitude of the employee with regard to occupational safety in the organization allows for better risk management in the organization; the involvement of employees within the framework of the adopted proactive attitude of employees in the context of the entire organization provides a basis for building mutual responsibility for overall safety; in terms of occupational safety, the proactive attitude is linked to the key factors of the strategy of sustainable development of modern companies. Practical Implications: Used in the research process, the tool allows to find out what aspects need to be paid attention to in order to increase the proactive attitude in the company and, consequently, its security level. In addition, it can be used to compare individual departments within an organization among themselves - comparing the final result. Originality/Value: The authors of the publication analyse the scientific literature and current own research on the importance of the factors of the concept of sustainable development on proactive behavior in relation to OSH management in the organization. They focus on the key areas of the subject of the research, which consist of the employee's proactive behavior and attitude, and the systemic approach to occupational safety management in relation to the basic factors of sustainable development.
