BPMN Diagrams as an Essential Tool for Enhancing Business Process Management and Team Collaboration

Abstract: Purpose: The goal of the research is to critically analyze how BPMN diagrams can optimize operations and contribute the improvement of team dynamics, focusing on theoretical concepts and practical outcomes within a specific industry context and as strategic tools for enhancing business process management and team collaboration, particularly in the context of an IT company based in Ukraine. Design/Methodology/Approach: The research methodology is based on an expert method, that give authors opportunity to examine the expert opinions, including top management and project managers in an IT company, which indicates strong support for BPMN diagrams. Findings: The findings suggest that using of BPMN diagrams significantly enhance project clarity and operational alignment. The structured use of BPMN has been shown to foster a shared understanding among different project teams, which is crucial for the synchronized execution of complex IT projects. Practical Implications: The research results demonstrate the significant potential of BPMN diagrams for improving business process management and team collaboration in the IT sector, particularly within Ukrainian companies. The application of BPMN diagrams can enhance process transparency, increase the efficiency of interdepartmental communication, and optimize resource utilization. The findings can be utilized by organizations to develop digital transformation strategies, automate business processes, manage risks, and boost competitiveness. This enables companies to make informed decisions, adapt to dynamic market changes, and create innovative solutions that align with the demands of Industry 5.0 and sustainable development. Originality/Value: The study demonstrates that BPMN diagrams significantly enhance project clarity, operational alignment, and interdepartmental collaboration in a Ukrainian IT company. By providing a standardized method for visualizing workflows, BPMN reduces communication barriers and improves team coordination. BPMN diagrams have been proven to be crucial for the effective management of complex IT projects, positioning them as both practical tools and key innovations in optimizing business processes.
