Abstract: This article examines the role of the periodical press in Shkodër in shaping the development of Albanian national education between 1897 and 1920. Drawing on historical periodicals as primary sources, the study analyses how these publications contributed to linguistic standardization, pedagogical discourse, and the formation of national consciousness. The findings show that the Shkodër press played an active role in promoting educational ideals and issuing models of schooling in a context where formal institutions were limited. By highlighting the interaction between print media, language, and education, the article demonstrates the importance of the press in the early development of a unified national education system in Albania.
