Traditional Gender Patterns in Health Area in Turkey

Abstract: The gender patterns do not only emphasize the differentiation but also core unequivalent power relations. In many cases, women have less economical resources, social status, power and opportunity to realize themselves than males who are at the same level. The gender patterns which were created in the system are maintained by transfering from one generation to another. A result of this crystalization is self-preserving at the informal level although some changes are done at the formal level. According to the findings of this study, the area in which women appear mostly in Turkey is the health area. The legal regulations provided an equal condition for women in education period that is a preparation stage for the job in the health area but unfortunately it is seen that the principle of the equal education opportunity does not work in working life.
