Note: [English Title] EXTERNAL DEBT IN DEVELOPING COUNTRIES AND DEBT REDUCTION TECHNIQUES IN 1990'S [English Abstract] External debt issue is one of the leading econonıic and financial problems of global economy. Debt reduction techniques have become a current issue in recent years used to reduce the cost of debt crises. The aim of this study is to analyze the contribution of the external debt reduction techniques in solution of the external debt issue. Debt-equity swap, debt-nature swap, debt-buyback and debt reduction facility are major debt reduction techniques. The most heavily used debt reduction technique is debt - equity swap scheme. Contribution provided by these techniques is quite limited. Therefore permanent solutions are not expected from these techniques. [English Keywords] Not available
