Note: [English Title] GLOBALISATION AND SOCIAL SECURITY CRISES [English Abstract] Neo-liberalism, having increased its influence at the end ofl970's, the process ofsuppression of the social field at nation state level.. The evericreasing integration of the world economies and free movement of capital over national boundaries eroded the possibilities for comprehensive welfare policies and limited the finance capabilities of the governments. White the pressures from the international competition forced the countries to tower the labor costs, the race among the devetoping countries to lower the labor costs to the bottom, seriously damaged the social protection of their peoples and resulted in the deprivation of significant parts of their population from social security. Turkey opened its economy to the world markets through the economic programme put into effect in the 1980's. This change had direct and indirect effects on the social security institutions; limited the finance capability of Turkish social security system and the system entered info crises. On the other hand, increased income inequalities, impoverisment, jlexibilization of the labor markets which resultedfrom the policies applied, expanded the need of the broad sections of the population for social s ecurity. Turkey has to develop policies to strenghten her competitibility. Policies aimed only at the reduction of labor costs seriously endanger the social stability and security.
