Note: [English Title] Not available [English Abstract] Regional economics which have been dominant in the second half of the twentieth century made use of the general economic theories and adapted them to its own aims and requirements. "Traditional Regional Economic Development Theories" which have been affective until to the 1970s have been influenced from the general economic doctrine through some theories and approaches such as, neoclassical economy, Keynesian economy, neo-Marxist economy, supply oriented monetarist approaches. After the 1970s, the flexible production systems, the supranationalization and localization of the economy, the geographical mobility of investment production and labour force, and transformatian of the institutional structures have been influential in the development of the post-fordism debate. The changing global, economic, social and spatial conditions generate the necessity to defıne the concepts of region and regional/local economic development. The limitations of the traditional modelsfor understanding the regional/local economic development have brought the new theorizations info the theoretical agenda in the post-fordist era. Recently, theoretical agenda is developing in the framework of a general concept, socio-economic paradigm. Different strands such as, Knowledge Economy, Evolutionary Economy, Institutional Economy, have been attempting to redefine the nature of economics. The regional/local economic development theories and the economic geography discipline have been affecting from these debates. In this article the historical development process of regional/local economic development theories which have been developed on the economy-location relations is examined fırst through the title, "Classical Economic Tlıeories and Traditional Regional Economic Development Theories ". The development in the theories parallel to the changes in the world conditions after the 1970s is handled under the title, "Efforts to Conceptualize the Economy-Location Relations in the Post-Fordist Era". Lastly, the recent developing theoretical agenda is introduced under the title, "Knowledge Economy, Evolutionary Economy, Institutional Economy Theories and Regional/Local Economic Development Theories".
