“Yılanların Öcü” Hakkında Bir İnceleme

Abstract: Fakir Baykurt’un ünlü romanı Yılanların Öcü (1954), köy romanları arasında önemli yeri olan eserlerinden biridir. Ancak, eser yayımlandığı ilk günden itibaren olumlu-olumsuz pek çok eleştiriye maruz kalmıştır. 27 Haziran 1958’de Yunus Nadi Roman Yarışması’nda birinciliği kazanan Yılanların Öcü’nün, sinema filmi olarak da uyarlanması, hem şöhretini artırmış hem de daha fazla tartışmaya sebep olmuştur. Yılanların Öcü’nde, adından başlayarak takip edilen “öç alma” duygusu etrafında, iki farklı düşüncenin karsı karsıya geldiği görülür. Bu düşüncelerden biri, haksızlıklar karsısında sabırlı olmayı tavsiye ederken, diğeri direnmekten yanadır. Romanın bir başka önemli hususiyeti de, yazıldığı döneme ait pek çok meselenin gündeme getirilmiş olmasıdır. Yoksul olmasına rağmen ailesiyle birlikte mutlu bir yasam süren Kara Bayram’ın uğradığı haksızlığa direnişinin ve mücadelesinin anlatıldığı Yılanların Öcü’nde, yazarın kuvvetli ve baskın kişilikler oluşturduğu görülmektedir. Romanın basından sonuna kadar aynı kararlı tavrı sergileyen Irazca’nın, eserde en fazla öne çıkan karakter olduğu söylenebilir. Çalışmamızda öncelikle, romana ait unsurlar incelenmiş, ardından sosyal meselelere dair tespitler yapılarak, yazar hakkında kısa bir bilgi verilmiştir.

Note: [English Title] A RESEARCH IS ABOUT OF “YILANLARIN ÖCÜ” [English Abstract] The famous novel of Fakir Baykurt, Yılanların Öcü (Revenge of the Serpents), is an important book among village novels. However, it has been subject to many positive and negative criticisms since it was published. The book won the first prize of the Yunus Nadi Novel Reward on June 27, 1958. The adaptation of the book into a movie increased its fame and caused many discussions about it. In the novel, through the instinct of taking revenge there are the confrontations of two different ideas. One of these ideas is to be patient to unfairnesses, the other is to withstand them. Another feature of the novel is that it brought up many problematic issues of that time. The novel is about the resistance and struggle of Kara Bayram to the unfairnesses. He has been living with his family happily in spite of his poverty. In the novel the author manages to create intense and dominant characters. Especially Irazca stands out with her determined attitude from the beginning to the end of the novel. In this essay, primarily the elements of the novel are examined, afterwards inferences about social issues are made and also there is a brief knowledge about the author.
