Organismi transgenici, brevetto e agricoltura italiana: una convivenza difficile

Abstract:
The development of Transgenic Organisms (OT) for agricultural scopes is conditioned by the possibility to patent the result of the genetic manipulation; if not there were the licence, in all probability, not there would be not even OT. Surely the licence constitutes an incentive to the scientific search, but when it cares plants or animals used in agriculture, it?s necessary to hold account of the fact that: the opportunity of being able to patent transgenic plants and animals, will mean to be able to exercise on them a right of exclusive property; the licence will increase the economic dependency of the agricultural field in comparison with manufacturer one; the licence will be able to determine the payment of royalties for every kilogram of sold seed and for every kilogram of product obtained from that seed; the licence will favour the production on the base of a contractual relationship with farmers; the licence will allow the Countries, that have its property, to carry out the cultivations in localities that are next to the placement markets, rendering therefore competitive productions that currently are penalised by elevate commercialization costs.
